Barlow’s is a trendy yet casual tavern in a gorgeous area of Fort Point. They have a huge outdoor patio which is beyond ideal on a sunny day. Whether sitting outside or inside in their spacious dining room/bar area, the Barlow’s vibe is top-notch. It’s also perfect for any age group, and any-sized party. They have a nice selection of brunch drinks, and we specifically love the Morning Sunshine cocktail. It’s a refreshing on-the-rocks mix of champagne, elderflower, grapefruit and cranberry. The brunch menu is an average size, and has great diversity. But before you even consider the entrees, start off with the “eye opener” tater tots. The steaming hot and crispy tots come topped with bacon bits, a sunny egg, scallions, and the perfect amount of queso is added so the dish isn’t overly soggy. This appetizer is a must. For the main dish, choose from options like Chilaquiles, crab cake benedict, or the Broadway breakfast skillet. We were so excited when we saw the lobster brunch tacos (pictured in previous post); they sounded delicious on the menu, but ended up just being average. The lobster and goat cheese egg scramble is a good combo, but the avocado cream sauce drizzled over is a little bland and has a weird, clumpy texture. Besides that, the tacos are yummy, and the ingredients are all of average quality. The home fries are perfectly salty and crispy. Prices are decent, with most dishes landing around $14. The portions are pretty average, nothing to write home about. Regardless, we will be frequenting this patio all summer long.
