Dudley Cafe, located directly across from Dudley Station, is a ray of sunshine among Roxbury's Dudley Square. From the outside looking in it's a clean, bright and vibrant establishment with a diverse mix of people. Once you step inside the aura of the space proves to be even more. From the live local jazz music to the chatter of friends everything about Dudley Cafe screams "come on it and stay a while". The menu is full of casual crudo like sandwiches, rice bowls, all sorts of breakfast carbs, and tacos, to name a few and is order-at-the-counter style. We were coming from the gym and although it's always hard to say no to brioche French Toast, we decided to try two of their rice bowls; the Ayanna's bowl (with the egg) and Michelle's bowl (with chicken curry). The ingredients in the bowls are fresh and delicious with flavors that are complimentary but not overpowering. We LOVE that they use all local products and their produce comes from the Urban Farming Institute in Dorchester; ridiculously cool. Clearly from looking at these bowls, the portions are hefty and filled our rumbling post-gym tummies right up. Prices are incredibly reasonable, especially considering how fresh the food ingredients are. Everything on the menu is under $10 and much of it is under $5!
