For a New England chain restaurant, we’re impressed with Joe’s American Bar & Grill and their brunch offerings. The interior in the Dedham location is spacious and fabulously decorated with an upscale sports bar feel. This is definitely a place for diners of all ages, and for any group size. The staff is welcoming and does a great job accommodating requests. Their menu has a surprising amount of diversity, with some not-so-usual dishes like buffalo chicken waffles, cheeseburger eggs benedict, or the peach pecan caramel pancakes. Already a step above your typical sports bar. Ingredients are of average quality, and we’re also not that blown away with the portion sizes. The all-American waffle is nothing to write home about, but it’s tasty and it’s hard to complain about carbs topped with strawberries, blueberries, and whipped cream. The southwest omelet, while not the most visually appealing dish, is actually delicious. It comes smothered in chili and filled with cheese and multiple types of salsa. With all of those heavy ingredients the dish ends up being super filling, even though the overall portion size isn’t great. The Florentine benedict comes with a large portion of spinach, a perfectly poached egg, and a thin hollandaise topping. It’s yummy, but it’s your average benedict. We’re definitely regretting not trying the cheeseburger benny! In our opinion, prices are a little high here considering the portions and medium-quality ingredients, and also that it’s a chain. The omelets and carb options fall around $14, and the benedicts range from $12-$20.
