Moonshine 152
3.5

Moonshine 152 is a hidden gem in Southie that offers an Asian/American flair. We can see why @brunchismyfavorite recommended this place to us - so thank you!! The brunch scene is on the quieter side but don't let that fool you. The food and service is definitely notable. One major plus is that the mimosa’s come in a wine glass and let’s just say, you definitely are not getting gyped for your money’s worth. If the weather is warm enough, we recommend snagging a seat in their outdoor patio. It is small and intimate allowing your brunch experience to be much more enjoyable.

The brunch menu is on the smaller side offering a wide variety of egg options and only one sweet (Cinnamon French Toast sticks and offered as a small plate). Although the food is a bit on the heavy side, without a doubt it will cure a hangover and won't make you leave feeling disgusting - major bonus!. For starters, we highly recommend ordering the Tater Tot Poutine. The tots are cooked perfectly; crispy on the outside and not the slightest bit greasy. It is paired with an insane amount of white cheese, red-eye gravy and Chinese sausage. This unique combo had us wanting more. We love their Crab Eggs Benedict (pictured here); it has a unique twist to your traditional eggs benny. Instead of poached eggs, it is topped with two fried eggs, fresh crab salad that is gently tossed with lemon, spices and herbs and a Tasso ham hollandaise – DELICIOUS! The “Gypsy Eggs” is good but did not give us the “WOW” factor unlike the other two meals. The prices are reasonable with everything ranging around $12-$18. Next time you are brunching in Southie looking for a change of scenery, we recommend you trying Moonshine 152!
