Savin Bar & Kitchen
3.0

Savin Bar & Kitchen is a cozy hang-out located right by the Savin Hill redline stop in Dorchester. The proximity to the T is a big plus as it was snowing heavy as we strolled in on Saturday morning. Inside you’ll find mostly locals enjoying brunch and the home-like atmosphere created by the brick accent walls and upbeat music. The menu also adds to the welcoming vibe by offering comfort foods alongside creative sweet and savory, more modern, options. We eagerly ordered the chicken biscuit with honey butter and home fries, stuffed French toast, and a kale and butternut squash salad. We also couldn’t resist their rum slide cocktail and an elderflower Bellini! The food tastes fresh but came out a little cold, which made the toast and biscuit a bit dry. Despite the temperature everything is really flavorful! The honey butter gives the chicken a subtle sweetness that when mixed with the sausage gravy was everything we wanted from a chicken biscuit. On the other hand, the stuffed French toast is a bit too sweet. The berry compote is tasty but the sweetness makes it hard to eat the whole thing. Not that we needed to, as the portions definitely left us full! Even the kale salad is substantial enough to warrant leftovers. With prices also reasonable, most dishes are around $10 to $14, you can’t afford not to head out to Dorchester to enjoy a morning at Savin Bar & Kitchen.
