The Beehive is a hip and trendy restaurant located in the heart of the South End. It's always jamming with live music and gives off a bohemian vibe with its eclectic décor. Tables fill up quickly so we recommend making a reservation in advance; even the bar seating goes quick especially if you come during prime hours! The menu is of medium size and is filled with Middle-Eastern and American influences such as eggs shakshuka, eggs benedict and belgium waffles. The food and ingredients are good but nothing overly amazing, which is a bit disappointing considering The Beehive is a bumping brunch spot. For example, our poached eggs were not runny, which is basically a sin. So needless to to say they could step up their egg game. However, two things in particular that stand out on The Beehive’s menu are the poutine topped with short ribs (hello hangover cure!) and the coffee cake with honey butter. The fries that come with the poutine and short rib eggs benny are crispy and well seasoned. Not to mention, the short ribs are flavorful and tender. The prices are reasonable with everything ranging between $14-$18. Plus, the portions are a decent size so you will leave full and satisfied! The service could improve as brunch is rushed and feels like the wait staff wants patrons to eat and get out as soon as possible.
